In 1964, the Lemförder Metallwaren-Export GmbH (Lemex) with its registered office in Bremen formed from the Bremen export office of the Lemförder Metallwaren.
Roland R. Pappiér is executive partner. He holds 95 percent of the shares. In 1967 he transferred 45 percent of the shares to the LMAG. Hence, both then have shares in Lemex. In 1969 Ulderup gave his son, Christian Peter, a share in Lemex in Bremen, by transferring the shares held in LMAG to him.
On 6 May 1977 the articles of association were finalized for the founding an export company for the international trade with Lemförder products. The Lemförder Metallwaren International GmbH (LMI) was entered into the commercial register on 18 May 1977. The company founded by Christian Peter Ulderup then had its registered office in Bremen in 1978. LMI took over the company shares of Lemex. With the industrial background of Lemförder Metallwaren AG, LMI became an important member of the strong, globally present Lemförder Group. In 1978 the first subsidiary, Autex Autoteile (car components)-Export GmbH, was founded. In 1988 the founding of Otus UK Ltd.,(which became LMI GB Ltd in 1999), in 1997 LMI Japan and LMI USA took place. In 1998 the plant Eurocom/ECR in Spain was taken over.
In 2000 the company was restructured from a GmbH into a GmbH & Co. KG. In 2001, the LMI became a fully owned subsidiary of the ZF-Lemförder and is, therefore, the after-market organisation for the group worldwide. LMI began to trade under the new name of Lemförder International AG & Co. KG.
